Frequently Asked Questions
Does my son have to go to this Summer Program if they want to play baseball?
No, but over 95% of the current Beckman Baseball players attended this camp when they were incoming freshman.
Is this Camp a "try-out" for the Baseball Program?
No. No one is "cut" from baseball after this camp. However, certain players that display advanced skills will be told at the end of camp that they have already made the team and they don't need to try-out in September.
What equipment will my son need to bring to camp?
Baseball pants, shorts, glove, bat, helmet, cleats. Beckman Baseball gear will be sold the first week of the camp, but it is not required.
Will my son be playing in games at this camp?
Yes and no. Our goal at this camp is to get to know the kids and to have a better understanding of their skill level. In doing this, we sometimes play inter-squad games. We do not do any live pitching. We do not play any games against other schools.
Can my son play travel ball and still attend this camp?
Yes. This camp is very "low impact" and we understand that many kids have prior commitments to other teams. As long as we communicate, there should never be a conflict.
How does it work if my son is also doing a summer program for another sport?
The Beckman Athletic policy is to share athletes. If your son is participating in another sport in the summer, that is great. We just need to communicate and if there is a time when two camps overlap, we will work it out
