Videographer for Season Kickoff Coach’s Corner
|
This is an opportunity to work closely with Coaches at 5-6 practices, videotaping various drills as he instructs for the purpose of later editing this tape down to 30-60 minutes of action. This edited tape will be shown at the Season Kickoff Coach’s Corner (for parents) where Coach will refer to the tape while discussing his baseball philosophies.

Christmas Tree Lot Apprentice
|
This opportunity begins immediately. You will work very closely with the Christmas Tree Lot Chairperson in all aspects of Christmas Tree Sales. The idea is that the apprentice will take over as Chairperson the following year.

|
Christmas Tree Lot Security RV
|
This event occurs on the night of December 4, once the Christmas Trees have been delivered to Beckman’s main parking lot. You will need to spend the night in your RV, thereby providing security for the trees until the next morning. At least 1 parent or guardian must remain in the RV overnight. This task satisfies a family’s additional 2 volunteer requirements for the year.

Annual BBQ
|
This potluck event is tentatively scheduled for February 20 at the Varsity Field. Tasks include: setting up; grilling hotdogs and hamburgers; cleaning up; and organizing cases of water, Gatorade or Propel in the baseball shed. All families are required to bring an item to the BBQ. Additionally, all families are required to bring 1 case of water and 1 case of either Gatorade or Propel to supply the snack bar.

First Pitch Dessert
|
This event is tentatively scheduled for March 2 in the Commons. This dessert potluck serves as a kickoff to the season. All families are required to bring a dessert. Coaches and players from all 3 teams will be introduced. Tasks include: organizing what dessert each family is to bring; designing flyers for the event; setting up and cleaning up.

Freshman Letter Writing Campaign
|
This opportunity occurs before the season. All incoming freshmen, regardless of team, will be asked to send 10 letters to family and/or friends requesting donations to Beckman Baseball. Tasks include: overseeing that all freshmen personally handwrite envelope addresses; form letter addressee, salutation, closing and personal P.S.; collecting all finished letters; including self-addressed stamped envelope; affixing return address labels and stamps; mailing letters; and sending out Thank You letters as each batch of donations is received.

Team Parents
|
This opportunity is ongoing throughout the year. You will be the main liaison for your team with the Volunteer Coordinator and the Baseball Program. The Varsity Team Parents will chair the 3 planned Varsity Team Dinners, coordinating with the host families. The JV and Freshman Team Parents will chair any of their respective team functions or events planned, coordinating with their respective team families in organizing duties and responsibilities. You will also be responsible for implementing a chain of information procedure for your respective teams. This task satisfies a family’s additional 2 volunteer requirements for the year.

PA Announcer
|
This opportunity occurs at home games only. PA Announcers are needed for both Varsity and JV teams. Only requirements are to confirm pronunciation of names in both teams' lineups, and announce players at bat and key information throughout the game. We hope to have someone available for all home games, but if you would like to help out some of the time, please let us know.

In-Game Music Director
|
This opportunity occurs at home games only. An In-Game Music Director is needed for both the Varsity and JV teams. This task involves obtaining each Beckman player’s desired “walk-up” music to be played over the loud speaker as the player approaches the plate for his at-bat. You will also need to obtain other appropriate music to be played between innings of the game. You will need to be available to play music at each home game. (Much of the music has already been obtained and prepped. If you can be available at the games to DJ for us, please let us know!)

Varsity Team Journalist
|
This opportunity is ongoing throughout the year. You will write a game recap after each game to be proofed by Coach Lavalle before being submitted to our contact at the LA Times, OC Varsity (Register), our webmaster, or any other appropriate outlets.

Varsity Team Dinners
|
There will be 3 planned Varsity Team Dinners on 3 different Thursdays during the season. The Varsity Team Parents will Chair these dinners. The 3 host families will serve dinner at their homes to the Varsity Team and its coaches. Food donations may need to be organized. You will work with the Varsity Team Parents in organizing the dinner.

Banners
|
This opportunity is ongoing throughout the year, with the bulk of the time occurring before the season starts. Tasks include: cleaning all renewed existing banners; hanging new banners; and removing any non-renewed banners. During the season, periodic maintenance will become necessary when any banner rips or otherwise becomes damaged and needs to be repaired and re-hung. Chairperson will review all artwork received from banners sold; submit orders to and approve invoices from the banner company.

Beckman Baseball Merchandise
|
Ongoing, with most of the organizing done a few months prior to the season. Tasks include: interfacing with Coach and the Booster President in the design and purchase of logo merchandise; sorting and organizing the merchandise when it arrives; and arranging for the sale of merchandise at Beckman Baseball events during the year.

Community Service Hours Coordinator
|
Ongoing. This position is responsible for researching and securing community service hours events at which our players can work. Players gain valuable volunteer experience, which can look good on a college application. The coordinator will organize schedules and keep records of each player’s time.

|
Casino Night
|
This event is tentatively scheduled for February 27 and will incorporate live and silent auctions as well as raffle donations. Tasks include: marketing and advertising of event; collecting RSVPs and money; collecting items from the Baseball families for the auctions and raffle; preparing descriptive signs for the items; organizing the items at the location; arranging for food; scheduling volunteers to set up and clean up.

Bowling Night
|
This event will occur in the spring. Tasks include: coordinating with the bowling alley; collecting RSVPs and money; arranging for food; setting up; and cleaning up.

Senior Recognition
|
This event occurs near the end of the season. At the final Varsity home game, the parents of our seniors and some administration will be invited to participate in a pre-game ceremony. Tasks include: designing and sending out invitations; coordinating with Beckman’s band, cheerleaders, coaches and administration; ordering plaques for the players and buying flowers for the players’ moms. A Junior parent is preferred as Chairperson for this event.

Pancakes with the Patriots
|
This event is scheduled for late in the school year, at Beckman. It is a pancake breakfast where all of Beckman’s athletic teams set up booths for interested incoming freshman. Tasks include: setting up; working the Baseball Booth by imparting information about the Baseball Program to prospective incoming freshmen and their families; selling Beckman Baseball merchandise at the booth; and cleaning up.

Year-End Banquet
|
This event date is to be determined, but typically in late May or early June after the season concludes. All team banquets are held on campus this year. Tasks include: designing the decorations; sending out invitations; assisting in the preparation of the awards program; coordinating with the Booster President coaches’ gifts / recognition; scheduling volunteers to set up and clean up.
